Saferty Alert: BMW Recalls Thousands of Cars
LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY - BMW is recalling hundreds of thousands of it's most popular cars.
Problems with battery connector cables are forcing BMW to recall 570.000 cars in North America and Canada.
The cars affected in the recall include the 1-series coupes and convertibles from 2008 through 2012. The three series models from 2007-2011 and the Z-4 sports car from 2009 through 2011.
At issue are the cable connectors and a fuse box terminal which can wear out over time and cause "variations in electrical resistance."
That could result in the car losing electrical power and cause the engine to stall with no advance warning.
BMW plans to start notifying owners in March.
Consumers are experiencing more pain at the pump than ever before.
The average cost of a gallon of gas has jumped 51 cents in the last two months.
And while there has been a steady increase in the past 30 days, the price jumped 9 cents over the President's Day weekend.
If that trend continues, experts say gas prices could top the all time record of 4-11 set back in 2008.
Here in the Coachella Valley the price per gallon has gone up more than *fifty* cents in the past three weeks.
