SAFETY ALERT: Police Seek Violent Thief Following Robbery In Palm Desert
PALM DESERT - The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect in a violent robbery. Investgators say a woman was assaulted and robbed Friday at about 9:05 PM in the parking lot in the area of El Paseo and Sage Lane in Palm Desert.
Upon arriving to a call for help, officers discovered the female victim had just left a nearby restaurant and was walking towards her car in the parking lot. The suspect approached the victim, physically assaulted her, then took her purse. Police say the suspect ran eastbound through the parking lot and got into the passenger side of a dark-colored vehicle. The vehicle left the area eastbound through the parking lot. The victim was treated for minor inuries as a local hospital and later released.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, mid-20's, heavy-set, 5'10" – 5'8", short dark hair, and wearing darks pants and a dark jacket.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is committed to the safety of the citizens of this community and will be vigilant in investigating all crimes of this nature. The investigation is ongoing.
