Alligator Found in Backyard
DESERT HOT SPRINGS - An out of place alligator is found right here in the Coachella Valley!
Just before 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, on Estrella avenue, a woman and her Beagle came upon the 3-foot long alligator trapped between two fences. The Beagle had alerted the woman by barking loudly at it. Animal Services were called in and they were able to safely capture the reptile. It was taken to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms.
Right now it is not known where the alligator came from, and no one has stepped forward to claim it. It is illegal to own an alligator as a pet in California. Animal Service officers say the gator will be given to another animal rescue that can handle alligators.
