The last remaining flying B-29 bomber landed in the desert. It's one of the most produced bombers of World War II. This B-29, nicknamed "Fifi" is in town through Sunday.  You can tour the inside of the giant bomber, and if you really want the full experience you can take the bomber for a ride, with a professional pilot of course. 

 

This particular B-29 never saw action during the war. It was actually used for target practice by the Navy before being fully restored. It now tours the country and will be in Palm Springs all weekend. The $20 admission includes both the museum admission and the B-29 tour.  The air museum will be open until 6:30pm all weekend, so go check it out. It's a remarkable part of our country's history right here in the desert.
