THOUSAND PALMS - A motorcycle and SUV collide sending the rider to the hospital where he later died.
The crash happened Thursday around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Datil Way and Thelma Avenue. The driver of the SUV, 33 year old Alejandro Verdugo of Thousand Palms, failed to yield and struck motorcyclist William Rivers, 58, who was thrown from his bike.
Paramedics arrived on scene and transported Rivers to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where he later died.
No word if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.
