Criminal Met with Barrel of Gun during Burglary Attempt
PALM DESERT - A homeowner protects himself and home when an armed parolee, suspected in several break-ins, tries to get into his house.
According to Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Francisco Granados, 22, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. early Friday morning after a number of break-ins in Palm Desert. The first was reported at 10 p.m. Thursday night in the 40700 block of Sandpiper Court. Granados then moved on to another home on that same street. But, the burglar wasn't done. Granados then attempted to smash a rear sliding door at a home on the 100 block of Courtside Drive. Unfortunately for Granados, he was met with an armed homeowner. Granados dropped his weapon, which was later found to be a realistic pellet gun, and took off running.
Police later arrested Granados in a nearby parking lot. He was booked into the county jail in Indio on suspicion of burglary and violating parole and is being held without bail.
